Year 3 walked to Ashton town centre as part of their Geography course work, learning about the local area.
They looked at the inside and outside markets and the different types of goods sold there.
The class then went on to view other types of shops in the Arcades and around the centre of Ashton.
The children then looked at the different forms of transport which enable people to come into Ashton.
They also investigated the types of jobs people could work at in Ashton.
The children worked really hard filling in their questionnaires and were very well behaved. They worked in small groups and helped and encouraged each other.
On returning to school they filled in a map of the route they had taken. Later they wrote reports about Ashton using their ICT and English skills.

Inside Market
There are lots of good places to go in Ashton. The inside market is called the Phoenix market Hall. In the Phoenix Market Hall you can buy things like Bread and sweets. You can also buy Groceries, Pasta, Chewing Gum and Bubble Gum. Sometimes they sell pasties and pies.
The Arcades
The Arcades is a big place. You can buy many different things at the Arcades like shoes, food, clothes, toys, lottery tickets, videos and video games. There's a post office where you can buy stamps and post parcels, cards and letters.
The shops
There are hundreds of shops in Ashton such as MacDonald's, top shop, Arcades, phoenix market hall, Argos, next and IKEA.

Phoenix Market Hall
In the Phoenix market hall is a big place to buy food, drinks, clothes, cakes, toys, fish and lots of other things. You can buy lots and lots more than you think. Some are big like where you can buy food and some are small where you can buy toys.
Arcades
The Arcades is a big big place. You can buy lots of items like food, drinks, clothes, toys, lottery tickets, videos, comics, books and video games. It's great.
Shops
There are many shops in Ashton town centre like Woolworths. You can buy lots of books there, there is game where you can get lots of video games and there are lots of food shops.
