How to make
Crunchy Syrup Cakes




Ingredients:

  • 50g butter or margarine
  • 200g plain dark chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 220g wholemeal biscuits
  • Icing sugar

    Things you will need:

  • 20cm non-stick backing tray
  • A small pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Knife
  • Mixing bowl

  • Method:

    1. Break the chocolate up into small pieces and put them in a bowl.
    2. Add the butter and syrup, mix together.
    3. Carefully heat the mixture in the microwave until the chocolate has melted.
    4. Crumble the wholemeal biscuits into small pieces and sprinkle them into the mixture, stir well.
    5. Pour the mixture into a non-stick shallow tin about 20cm square and allow to cool.
    6. Refrigerate until set, which may take several hours.
    7. Remove the crunch layer from the tin and cut into fingers.
    8. Sprinkle each bar with a light coating of icing.

    Evaluation:

    When you have finished the crunchy syrup cakes they should be a golden brown colour and should taste delicious.
