|
Our Lady's School puts on an amazing performance of Oliver Twist with
Brandon, who was the star of the show as Oliver. On Tuesday the 10th of November, at St Anns' Social Centre in Ashton, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School put on a fantastic performance of Oliver Twist. Brandon, who played Oliver was excellent, even though he had a bit of a cough and a sore throat, his singing was really good and he never once went off key. The highlight of the evening was when Brandon sang a solo, "Where is Love," which had the audience in tears. Mr Woolley (a teacher in charge), had this to say, "All of us thought Brandon was a star and he looked and acted just like Oliver." The show was a sell out for all three nights. Everyone in the show was really good but Brandon clearly stood out from the rest. |
Brandon remarked, "Being Oliver was thrilling and I would love to do it again." ![]() Conner, who played the Artful Dodger said, "Brandon was really fun to work with and he is now one of my best friends." We were inquisitive to know if Brandon would have any more leading parts but Mrs Rowley said, "You will have to wait until next year, however I do think he deserves one." |

The fire was that bad it took 16 fire engines to put out the blaze. Barry Jones, Divisional Officer with Greater Manchester Fire Service said, "I was here when the actual fire started, we got the call at two minutes past three. The fire engines were there within minutes. The fire soon broke through the roof and it took ninety fire fighters to help put out the fire." Mrs Rowley, (a teacher from Ashton) said, "I was fast asleep in bed when I suddenly heard a big bang. I looked out of my window and the sky was all filled with smoke and fire…" |

"Luckily we will be able to save the outer walls of the Grade Two listed building which dates from 1829." Councillor Kieran Quinn said, "As soon as the scaffolding has been completed, the massive clean up will begin. There will be a temporary market hall built on the nearest car park.."
