As part of their Literacy work, pupils in Year 4 have been writing instructions in the form of recipes.



Macaroni Cheese

Ingredients
Half a bag of macaroni
125g of grated cheese
2 pieces of smoked ham
1 spoonful of mustard
Chives

Method

1. Wash the macaroni in a colander.

2. Put the macaroni in a saucepan with some warm water.

3. Chop the smoked ham.

4. Place the ham and the grated cheese into the pan with the macaroni.

5. Add the mustard and chives to the pan, and mix together.

6. Place the mixture into a baking dish.

7. Ask a grown up to put it in the oven for 20 minutes at 180°C.

Enjoy your meal and eat!

Fruit Pancakes

Key: ! = Dangerous – ask an adult for help

Ingredients:

2eggs

flour

grapes

apples

bananas

strawberries

water

Tools

whisk

pan

jug

spatula

Method 1. Put the flour into the jug.

2. Add the water into the flour.

3. Break the eggs into the flour and water mixture.

4. Whisk the mixture together.

5. Pour some of the mixture into the pan (!).

6. Heat in the pan for 5 – 10 minutes flipping the pancake with the spatula (!).

7. Take out the pancake and place on a plate (!).

8. Chop up the fruit and place it on the pancake.

9. Wrap up the pancake and enjoy.

Repeat the instructions from Point 5 until you have used up all the mixture.

Spinach Risotto

Ingredients:

Spinach

Cream

Vegetable cube

Butter

Parmesan cheese

Rice

Instructions

1. Place rice and vegetable cube in a pan with a little water.

2. Boil and cook for 10 minutes.

3. Mix the rice and spinach together with butter and parmesan cheese.

4. Leave until quite thick.

5. Eat while warm.

How to make Strawberry Kebabs

Ingredients:

Whipped cream

Strawberries

Marshmallows

2 large bars of chocolate

Method

1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave – ask an adult to help.

2. Dip the marshmallows half way in the chocolate.

3. Carefully push the marshmallows onto the cocktail sticks (about 3 on each).

4. Put them in the fridge for 10 minutes.

5. Whilst the marshmallows set, get the strawberries and squirt cream on them.

6. Get the cocktail sticks out of the fridge and put the strawberries and cream on them.

Your kebabs are now ready to enjoy!
