A recount of my trip to London

Day 1

We had to get up early in the morning to go down to school. We got on the coach with our luggage. We were on the coach for six hours, and then we arrived at London. First we went to Madam Tussauds. Then we went to the science museum. Later we went back to the hotel and had some tea. Then after tea I phoned my mum and then we went to see The Lion King. We got back to the hotel at 11.00 pm. When we got back it was dark.

Day 2

When we had got up and had breakfast we went to the Tower of London. Later in the day we saw a show at the Imax cinema. It was about men walking on the moon. After that we went back to the hotel and it was bedtime.

Day 3

We got up and went on the London eye. We had tea and then went to the Natural History Museum where we saw dinosaurs. Not long after this, we got on the coach to go home.

When I went to London

When I went to London, I didn't want to leave. It was 5 hours until we actually got there. We first went to Madame Tussauds. I loved it there. I thought my mum would have really enjoyed it. We got a picture pretending we were a rock band there. I also had a picture with a statue of Prince William. I went on The X Factor as well. I sung 'Left outside alone'. After that we all went to the planetarium. That hurt my neck because we had to keep our heads back to look at the ceiling where the night time sky was showing. The science museum was fun. I liked the experiments we did (I thought the shops were better though!). Later we had dinner and went to see The Lion King. It was fabulous! The singing was good as well.

The next day we went on a boat trip. The man who was guiding us was really funny! We then went to the Tower of London. I thought the crown jewels were nice. In the night we went to the B.F.I. IMAX cinema. It felt like I was walking on the moon. But to be honest with you, IT WAS THE MOST BORING MOVIE I EVER SAW!

On the third day we went on the London Eye. When we were at the top I felt like I was going to be sick! We then went to The Natural History Museum. I thought it was really interesting. I quite liked the little movies. That was particularly interesting. After that we got on the coach and went home. It was about ten o'clock when we got back. As soon as I got home I went to bed.

My trip to London

One day I went to London,
I went there with the school.
We travelled in a flashy coach,
It really was quite cool!

We went to see the Waxworks,
Which was a lot of fun.
We dashed round seeing lots of things,
I was tired when the day was done.

We saw London Bridge, the Queens big house.
And we went in the Bloody Tower.
We went on the London Eye, and a river boat.
We had fun every single hour.

We slept in triple bunks.
And shared rooms with our mates,
And every single meal time,
We had lots of food on our plates.

Eventually it was time to come home,
So we needed to pack up our stuff.
I wished we hadn't had to leave,
I hadn't done enough.

Next year I want to go again.
I'm missing London already.
I shall have to save my pocket money,
But now its time for beddy!

In Baden Powell place
It brought a smile to my face.

Buckingham Palace was really neat,
We saw the guard stamping his feet

In the Lion King
The animals can sing.

The Imax cinema was really ace,
We saw all of the stars in space.

I was wearing a coat
When I was on the boat.

In Hyde Park we saw the trees,
And the pelicans with knobbly knees.

In MI6 and MI5
There's sure to be spies that are alive.

London, London, what a great time I had.
It was all really good, there was nothing bad.

Big Ben
We saw Big Ben, it is a big clock.
It is next to Little Ben
Which goes tick-tock.

The clock strikes the hour,
Then we go to the tower.
We saw all the jewels
They belong to the Queen.
They are the shiniest I've ever seen.

We saw a show called The Lion King.
We clapped our hands and started to sing.

We saw London light up at night,
It looked so good with all the bright lights.

But best of all was the London Eye
When we were up there it was very high!

London Eye,
On it you feel funny inside.
New things you'll see like Madame Tussauds.
Do go, you will see the Bloody Tower.
Oh gosh, there is something to see every hour.
Now go and see, and be as excited as me.

My poem about London.

The London Eye,
Goes very high,
High above in the sky.
I love it there,
Its great time to spare,
You should come next time,
It's a goldmine!
London is really great
It is Ace!

London, London you're so great,
You're even better than the United State.
London, London we love you,
Thank you for creating it.
London, London you're so far
Why can't we stay there more?

London eye, London eye you're so big
Up there in the sky.
London eye, London eye we just,
Love you up there in the sky.

Hustle bustle the busy streets of London,
Hear people chitter and chatter going about
their daily business.

A street vendor cries in the distance,
tourists coming from near and far
people dashing through the
crowded streets of London.

People queuing, waiting for a go,
in the London eye children scream
as they go higher and higher.

I enjoyed London and we went to lots of places. We had a leader called Susan. She told us what to do and kept us in order. I was very good and kept with my group who were all really nice. When we went to the Natural History Museum, I lost my camera.

Later we went to the theatre to see the Lion King. All of a sudden a giraffe touched me on the head! It was very exciting to see The Lion King. We also went to the Bloody Tower and the Tower of London.

On the way back home back we went to Burger King for our dinner. Then we had a very long journey home and we got to school at 11:00 pm. I was very tired. My parents were very happy to see me. I missed my family very much while I was in London, but I did really enjoy myself.

My trip to London

By Emiy, Year 4

Day 1
On the 19th of October forty five children travelled to London from Our lady of mount carmel primary school all from year three, four, five and six. We were all spilt up into different groups each group had a group leader. At 6.00 we all got onto the bus and set off on our way. It took approximately five hours to get there.

When we finally reached the first place we were going to visit we got off the coach and met our guide at Madame Tussauds. It was really good we saw lots of different wax models like David and Victoria Beckham, Ant and Dec, Tony Blair, George Bush, the Queen, Jonny Wilkinson and lots more. There was an X Factor and some of us sang in front of a lot of people but none were brave enough to do a solo I preferred not to sing at all. Next we entered the chamber of horrors it was really scary especially the sound effects like when a model had been hung it sounded like somebody was going to chop its head off.

Next was the planetarium, which really felt like we were really near each planet and the moon. At 1.00pm we met the coach again and travelled to south Kensington then visited the science museum but we only visited the launch pad, which was still good because we got to play with all of the experiments. At 4.00pm we met the coach and went to the hostel and sorted out all of the rooms and where we were all sleeping, we also had to get changed ready for the Lion King.
At 5.00 all of the groups met downstairs for tea my group were first there so we got ours first. We had burgers and chips and the teachers had curry. At 6.15pm we were on the coach again and travelled to the Lyceum theatre to see the Lion King which was excellent there was big elephants coming straight down the side so we were right next to them at some points there was also big giraffes that came down and touched the people that were sat on the front row which luckily was us. The effects were really good. At 10.20 when the show had finished we got back on the coach and travelled back to the hostel and all went to bed because we all were really tired.

Day 2

At 9.00am we got onto the coach and travelled to St James's (royal London). We also visited Trafalgar Square and had lunch in Hyde park we then had a boat trip across the Thames to The Tower of London we saw bloody tower the crown jewels and a lot of ravens. I really liked the tower of London it was really fun. At 5.00 we met the coach and went back to the hostel and got changed because after tea we were going out again. For tea we had either cheese and tomato or ham tomato the teachers had lasagne. At 8.00 we left the hostel and travelled to the Imax cinema, which is just a 3d cinema, the 3D was excellent lots of children fell asleep. At 9.15pm we had a London by night tour before returning to the hostel.

Day 3

After breakfast we loaded our bags onto the coach but we still had a few more things to do. So the driver took us to the London Eye, which was amazing I could see the whole of London it was unbelievable how high it went. I took lots of pictures. At 11.10 we went to visit the History museum which was also good we saw the dinosaurs and lots of other things we had our lunch at the history museum before getting back on the coach and returning home. On the way home we stopped once at a service station for something to eat.

When I was in London I enjoyed the London eye the best because I couldn't believe how high it went but I still enjoyed it all and would love to go again.

My trip to London

By Caitlin

On Wednesday 19th October most of the juniors from Our Lady of Mount Carmel primary school, went on a school trip to tour around some of London's interesting places.

Everybody met in school much earlier than usual, at a quarter to six in the morning. Although everyone was tired they were also excited about the trip. Everyone got on the coach for six o clock and waved to mums and dads when the coach set off. Half way to London we stopped at a really pretty service station with a gorgeous fountain and ate our lunch.

After five hours of travelling we finally got to London. It was very much larger than Ashton and far busier. We picked up our tour guide, Suzanne, who took us to our first destination, Madamme Tussaud's waxworks. It was fantastic; you got to see waxworks of famous celebrities that looked just like the real thing. My favourite models were Lou and Andy from the comedy show 'Little Britain'. Lou's arms seemed to have real hair on them. I had my photograph taken with them. I also enjoyed the ride taking us on a tour of London through history, which showed us different periods of London life, such as Tudor and Victorian.

Next on our itinerary was the London Planetarium. Although it was fascinating, because it was dark some people used it as an opportunity to rest. Time seemed to pass really quickly. Then it was on to the Science Museum, via the hostel, where we quickly dropped off our luggage. It was all a bit rushed because we were running out of time, but I did enjoy doing experiments in 'The Launch Pad', an interactive part of the museum especially for children.

We walked from the museum to the hostel, as they were very close to each other. We got changed, had tea (delicious burgers, chips and beans) and ran to the coach because it was pouring with rain. The coach took us to the Lyceum Theatre as we had tickets to see 'The Lion King' a musical based on the Walt Disney cartoon film. This was my favourite part of the whole trip. The animals seemed very lifelike to me. The dancing was wonderful. We were sat near the front and I got to touch the giraffe's head when it went into the audience. After the show we went back to the hostel rooms and eventually went to sleep.

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast. Then it was back on the coach for a trip to Buckingham Palace, though we weren't invited in! We were lucky enough to see Princess Anne go out in a black car. There was a large crowd outside and we saw a military band marching past. They looked very smart in their fancy uniforms. We then set off on a walk to see more famous landmarks.

First stop was Trafalgar square. We saw Nelson's column, at the base of which was a new statue of a lady who was born with no arms and very short legs. We then went to Saint James' Park for a sandwich lunch. We saved a slice of bread to feed the ducks, but they were a bit greedy and came looking for more. We walked along Whitehall to the bottom of Downing Street, where the Prime Minister lives. We weren't allowed up the street because the Prime Minister had very important guests, but the policemen guarding the gates thought that we all looked very smart.

We then walked to the north bank of the river Thames. It was a lot wider than the river Tame which runs through Ashton. We queued to get on a boat which took us downstream to the Tower of London. The river looked beautiful as it gently flowed towards the sea. When we arrived and got out of the boat I was very excited knowing I was going to see the Crown Jewels. They were amazing, especially the kooh I noor diamond, the biggest in the world. We also watched a short film on the Coronation, when Elizabeth became Queen of England. We also saw the black ravens. They wore heavy rings which stopped them from flying away.

After all the walking I was ready for my tea, so it was back on the coach to the hostel. We got ready to go out for the night then had minestrone soup and pizza and chips. Then we went to the IMAX cinema to watch a 3D film about going to the moon. Most of the children (and some of the teachers) fell asleep. We went back to the hostel and, as it was our last night, we had a little midnight feast in our room before going to sleep.

In the morning we woke up, packed up and loaded our bags onto the coach. We set off for the London Eye. When we got to the top, we could see many of the places we had been from the air. Everybody was running around taking lots of photos. The view was great, even though it was dull and raining. When we got off we collected our photographs.

Our last stop was the Natural History Museum. It could be described as a flying visit. First we visited 'Earth' which tolld you all about the earth and allowed you to feel what an earthquake was like. We went in what looked like an ordinary shop when suddenly the room began to shake. We had a quick look at the dinosaur section after lunch, then it was time to go home. We got on the coach around two o clock, but because of lots of traffic we didn't arrive back in Ashton until ten at night.

My favourite part of the trip was 'The Lion King'. The worst part was the traffic jam on the way home. Overall I thought that our London trip was great fun and very interesting. It was also very tiring and I needed the week off school to get over it! If you get the opportunity to go on the school trip to London I would say 'go for it !'

My trip to London

By Tommy, Year 4

I was up, dressed, and out of bed just after four o'clock. Mum had already packed our bags and we were ready to go! We got to school and had a chat with our mates. Soon it was time to leave Ashton to go to our new home. Well, a new home we wouldn't have for very long! We got on the coach and said our last bye byes. Finally we started to move. We were going to London!

Soon it started to get brighter. It was now . . . . only 9 o' clock in the morning! Next we stopped to go to the toilet and then we were off again. Really I felt a bit sad and a bit excited too. After that we stopped again to have a bite to eat for twenty minutes, and we set off . . . . again! Oh and I took my first photo! I took a funny picture in the coach.

Eventually we arrived at London. We met our guide, Susan, and then we went to Madame Tussauds. I took lots of pictures in the waxworks. We also went to The Bloody Dungeon which was scary. Then we got back on the coach again and went to the hostel. We put our suitcases in our rooms. There was a triple bunk bed - I was on the bottom, Joe was on the middle, Scott was on the top. There was also a double bunk with Lewis on the bottom and Sam on the top.

Then we went to the Science Museum. There wasn't much to do really. After we had bought some gifts we went back to the hostel. We got changed into our own clothes and then had dinner. After that we went to see The Lion King. This show was fantastic. When it was finished we returned to the hostel and went to bed.

We all woke up early in the morning the next day, and we were all very excited about the things we were going to do on this day. We had a shower, brushed our teeth, and then got dressed into our uniforms. Then we went downstairs, lined up, and had our breakfast. After this we set off to Buckingham Palace. The Queen was at home. We knew this because we could she had her own personal flag flying. Some cars came past and we were hoping that the Queen would be in there, but she wasn't. We also got to see Trafalgar Square and No. 10 Downing Street, where the Prime Minister lives.

Later on we went on a river trip down the River Thames to the Tower of London. The tour man on the boat was very funny and made jokes for all the adults. When we got to The Tower of London we saw the crown jewels. They must have cost billions of pounds! Next we went to The Bloody Tower. I thought that it would be scary, but really, it didn't seem scary to me.

Later on we went back to the hostel for dinner and got changed again. Then we were off to the Imax Cinema. The adverts were great, but the actual film was a bit boring. The last thing we did was to go on a 'London by night' tour, and we went on London Bridge. Then it was back to the hostel for a midnight feast and some sleep.

On Friday morning we first packed up, had a shower, brushed our teeth, and then got dressed. I was very sad that we were leaving today, but I was excited that we were going to be going on The London Eye. The London Eye was very large and it took half an hour just to do a full ride round. When I reached the top it was very scary and we were all screaming!

In the afternoon we went to The Natural History Museum. I had been there before with my Mum and my twin brother. This time it was harder work because it was hard getting all the children from place to place. I liked the gift shop and I bought a wonderful egg made of marble. I call it my lucky egg!

Soon it was time to start the journey home. On the way home we stopped off at Burger King for something to eat. Eventually we arrived back in Ashton and we were all very, very tired. When I saw my Mum I was so excited that I fell down the steps of the coach! In a couple of minutes we were home, and it was time to got to bed - not in London anymore, but in our own home!

Then we had a very long journey home and we got to school at 11:00pm. I was very tired. My parents were very happy to see me. I missed my family very much while I was in London, but I did really enjoy myself.

Thank-you Letter

Dear Suzanne,

We would like to say a big thank you for being our tour guide while we were on our trip to London. We both found you very interesting as you explained all the things we were looking at there.

You are a very jolly and friendly person, and we think you must have lots of friends. You are also very helpful. We hope to see you again next year if we are able to come on the London trip again.

Thank you once again from both of us and from all the school children who came with us to London.
