Tameside School Sports Partnership launched the Tameside Young Ambassador Programme with special workshops for the sports ambassadors from schools around Tameside.
This consisted of Primary Young Ambassadors from Years 5/6, adiStar Ambassadors from Year 10/11, Gold Young Ambassadors from Year 12 and Platinum Young Ambassadors from Year 13.
Megan and Paolo, our Sports Ambassadors from Year 6, represented Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Primary School. They took part in workshops organised by the Gold Young Ambassadors which included taking part in an Olympic quiz and designing a Tameside mascot.
Megan and Paolo also received free kits and resources to help them promote sport, PE and the Olympic Games back at our school. They went on stage to receive certificates presented to them by the Mayor of Tameside, Jean Brazil.
A wonderful presentation was given by Commonwealth Gold Medal winner, Gymnast Craig Heap, who told us about his life and struggle to achieve his dream. He was an inspiration to all the young ambassadors present in encouraging them to promote sports in their schools.
Megan and Paolo got to wear his medals and have a photo taken with him!
