Each month we award the title of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Sports Person of the Month"
Niamh in Year 6 is Sports person of the Month for April.
Niamh has been involved in different sports and has represented the school in various competitions where the school has won many trophies.
She has taken part in the Girls Tag Rugby, Basketball and Netball.
Her favourite sport is swimming.
Rebecca is our sports person of the month for March. She has been involved in many areas of sport throughout her time in school including cross country, athletics, cheerleading, swimming, tag rugby, basketball and more.
Rebecca has been an important team member in all these sporting disciplines and has contributed greatly to the success that so many of the teams have enjoyed.
Rebecca is very reliable and dependable, turning up to events no matter what the weather or conditions. She works well with her team mates and any of the sports coaches she trains with.
Rebecca has excelled recently in the primary school swimming tournament achieving a first place finish in the freestyle. Her fabulous triple jumping helped the athletics team win this year's Tameside indoor athletics competition.
Out of school Rebecca is a member of local sports clubs including swimming, basketball and gymnastics.
Our Sports Person of the Month for February is Kieran from Year 6. Kieran has competed in many sports throughout his time in the school.
He has especially excelled with his throwing abilities and plays an important part in the successful school athletics squad, cross country team and the school swimming team, all of which have come away with winning trophies this season.
Kieran has a fabulous attitude when participating in sports - he is always very determined and focused. He has also made a wonderful assistant at the weekly athletics club, helping Mrs Lawrence set up and put away equipment and coaching other children with their throwing techniques.
Outside of school Kieran is a member of East Cheshire Harriers and a local basketball squad as well as a very able skateboarder.
Jack is our first Sports Person of the Month for 2011. Jack is involved in many sports within school and attends morning, lunchtime and after school sports clubs.
He is a member of the school cross country team and ran a fabulous final leg in the Tameside Cross Country Relay Competition held in January, bringing his team home to a first place trophy winning finish.
Jack is also part of the very successful school athletics team who recently won the Tameside indoor athletics 'Off the Blocks' tournament. He is also a member of the school football and tag rugby teams.
Out of school, Jack plays for the Mossley Juniors football team who are also enjoying success and are strong contenders for the league final.
