Sports Person of the Month

Each month we award the title of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Sports Person of the Month"

December 2009:

Tess (Year 3) is our December Sports Person of the Month.

Tess has excelled in the recent Tameside Cross Country Grand Prix. She achieved a second place finish in the first race and first place finishes in both the second and third races. Tess set a personal record by running 1200 metres in 5.52 seconds!

Tess attends the after school athletics and other sports clubs. Out of school Tess is a member of a local swimming team.

She also enjoys dance lessons and training at East Cheshire Harriers. Tess plays volleyball at Fairfield High School.

 
November 2009:

Shona (Year 5) is our November Sports Person of the Month.

She played a crucial part in the All Girls Tag Rugby Tournament. Shona was in the 'A' team and helped the team get through to the final and win the competition.

Shona has also been an important member of the Cross Country Team and the Girls' Football team.

She attends all the after school sports clubs and is a very fast sprinter.

 
October 2009:

Molly (Year 6) is our October Sports Person of the Month.

She played an important part in the recent success of the school cross country team, both at the Catholic Schools competition and at the Tameside Grand Prix.

Molly is also an active member of the girls' football team and the tag rugby team. She achieved a second place finish in the last school swimming gala and is a member of a local swimming club.

Molly was a member of the school cheerleading troupe who won the Tameside competition earlier this year. Molly is also a keen horse rider and owns her own horse.

 
September 2009:

Denver, age 8, is our Sports Person of the Month for September.

She was one of several pupils who represented the school in the Tameside Catholic Schools Cross-Country competition. Denver ran in the girls' under-9s category, coming in 1st place out of over 80 runners.

Denver is also an invaluable member of the school's athletics team. She trains regularly at lunchtimes and after school clubs and she is also a member of East Cheshire Harriers.

 
June 2009:

Georgia has represented the school in a wide range of sporting activities, including cross country, girls' football, volleyball, basketball, cricket and tag rugby.

She recently headed up the school's cheerleading troupe, who won the Tameside Primary Schools competition.

Georgia enjoys spending much of her time ouside of school riding her horse.

 
May 2009:

Madison has been involved in many school sporting activities including cross country, athletics, volleyball, basketball, dodgeball and cheerleading.

She is always an enthusiastic member of these school sports teams.

Outside of school Madison spends much of her time horse riding and is a school sports ambassador for this activity.

 
April 2009:

Helen has been involved in many sporting activities in Key Stage 2, including cross country, netball, football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, swimming, dodgeball and cheerleading. She has been a vital member of all these school sports teams.

Helen enjoys other physical activites outside of school, especially dance, ballet and tap.

She is a school ambassador for a local dance school. Helen also enjoys cycling and healthy walks.

 
March 2009:

Lucy, age 10, is the winner of our Sports Person of the Month for March.

She has represented our school in many sporting competitions. She played a vital role in the recent Tameside Athletics Tournament where we achieved third place in the final.

Lucy was part of the school basketball team who also achieved a third place finish in the finals. She has been involved in swimming galas, football and volley ball tournaments and cross country competitions.

Lucy has demonstrated a whole range sporting of skills and abilities. She always gives one hundred percent and as a result is an indispensable member of the schools sporting teams.

 
February 2009:

Wojciech, age 10, is the winner of our Sports Person of the Month for February.

He has represented our school in every cross country race since he started competing in Year 4. During this time he has always performed extremely well and puts his total effort into every race.

He has been part of the winning team at the last two years Cross Country Relay Competition.

Wojciech enjoys many sports and represents the school nit only in cross country but also in volleyball, basketball and athletics. He enjoys football and swimming.

 
January 2009:

Paolo, age 9, is the winner of our Sports Person of the Month for January.

He has represented our school in every cross country race since he started competing in Year 3. During this time he has always performed extremely well, finishing in the top five in almost every race.

He was part of the winning team at the last Cross Country Relay Competition and in the Catholic Schools & Tameside Tournaments as well as the Tameside Cross Country Grand Prix.

Paolo trains at East Cheshire Harriers every week. He is part of the school's very successful athletics team and is also a very capable swimmer.
