Each month we award the title of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Sports Person of the Month"
Nwabisa from Year 5 is Sports Person for December. Nwabisa enjoys many sports and has represented the school in girls' football, mixed tag rugby, swimming, volleyball and multisports.
She spends her dinnertimes playing football or tag rugby with the school team and attends the after school club which covers all sports through the year. Nwabisa also attends after school swimming lessons at Ashton Pool and multisports at Copley. She has just qualified as a Junior Play Leader.
Sports Person of the Month for November is Luke from Year 5. Luke enjoys many sports in school and out of school clubs. He has represented the school in football, tag rugby, cross country running, swimming and athletics (long jump, high jump and shot).
His team won the Catholic Schools Boys Swimming Gala and he came 7th in the cross-country boys over-nines. Luke runs for East Cheshire Harriers and is a member of Ashton Swimming Club. He also plays football for Stalybridge Celtic and is so versatile, he can play any position. He has just qualified as a Junior Play Leader.
Sports Person of the Month for October is Thomas. Thomas enjoys all sports but his favourites are tag rugby and football.
He is on the school's football, volleyball, tag rugby and basketball teams.
He is a member of Denton West End Cricket Club and football club.
He also attends Aldwynians Rugby Club in Audenshaw. Thomas joins in with all after school clubs and dinnertime sessions.
Sports Person of the Month for September is Daniel. His favourite sports are football and cross country running. Daniel is a very good runner and often goes running with his dad.
He recently came second in the Tameside under 9 boys cross country running. He attends the after school club for tag rugby and volleyball and dinner time sessions for football.
Daniel is also on the school football team. He plays football at Waterloo AFC in Ashton and enjoys his swimming lessons at Ashton Baths.
Sports Person of the Month for April is Bradley. He is in Year 4 and already he is a great cricketer. He has played in the school team which have gone through to the Tameside Finals.
Bradley is a member of Ashton Cricket Club, and plays football for Waterloo. He also plays football every dinnertime with Mr Brown. Bradley is also a member of Ashton Swimming club.
Natalie, our March winner, is a very good cross country runner. She trains at East Cheshire Harriers four times a week and runs in many competition including a 3km run and representing Tameside in the South East Lancashire Run.
Her team came 2nd in the Greater Manchester Run 2007. Natalie also finds time to attend a swimming club at Copley.
Our February winner is Bethany. She is a good all round player. She has represented the school in cross country running, basketball, football, netball, tag rugby, volleyball and swimming competions. Her favourites are basketball and football.
She attends the after school club for basketball and volleyball and is also a member of the Curzon Ashton football club.
Our first winner in 2007 is Amy. She is a very talented Athlete and puts maximum effort into her sports.
Amy has represented the school in many competitions which include, basketball, football, tag rugby, netball, cross country, volleyball and swimming galas. She also has time to belong to a gymnastic club and a dance club.
