In March 2006, we began awarding the new title of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Sports Person of the Month".
The Sportsperson of the month for December is Shannon in Year 6.
Shannon enjoys playing and has represented the school in basketball, netball and volleyball competitions. She also attends the after school clubs on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
November's Sportsperson of the month goes to Charlie in Year 6. She excels in football and tag rugby and is also a member of the cross country running and netball teams.
In her spare time Charlie attends Curzon Ashton Girls football, Dukinfield Swimming Club and the Hudson Academy of Dance and Drama. Charlie is also a Sports Ambassador for the school. A very good athlete!
Jamie in Year 6 is October's Sportsperson of the Month. He is a very keen and enthusiastic participant in many sporting activities.
Jamie takes part in tag rugby at dinner times and is also a member of the after school basketball and volleyball clubs. He also attends the Olympic Gym in Ashton and Medlock Rangers football club. Jamie is also a school Sports Ambassador. Well done Jamie!
Alex, age 8, is the winner of our Sports Person of the Month for September.
She was one of several pupils who represented the school in the Tameside Catholic Schools Cross-Country competition. She ran in the girl's under-9's category, coming in 7th place out of over 80 runners.
Our April winner is Caitlin. She is a good all round athlete she has represented the school in many competitions. She is a member of the netball, basketball, girls football, off the blocks, athletics and cross country teams. She won the East Cheshire Harriers cross country race in January and in March the cross country team came first in Tameside Under-11 Girls' Cross Country Championship competition!
Caitlin also gives up her own time training with East Cheshire Harriers and running at Gatley. She has also taken part in theatre dance workshops at Oldham theatre workshop. Well Done Caitlin!
Our first winner is Gabriella. She has had a very busy and exciting month taking part in the girls' High Five Netball, helping to win the basketball and cross country competitions for primary schools in Tameside.
Then, in spite of spraining her finger badly, she went on to represent Tameside and came third in the Greater Manchester Cross Country Run.
