Tameside School Sport Awards 2008

On 6th November 2008, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School was awarded one of the top Tameside Awards for sport!

We were shortlisted in three categories for the Tameside School Sports Awards for the year 2007 - 8 and won in one of the categories!

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School won the award for:
- High quality development in improving pupils health and well-being through sport and physical activity.

We were also in the top three schools for:
- the Development Award for increasing community participation in sport and physical activity
- Outstanding Success in Competitive Sports in a Primary School.

Shannon in Year 5 was in the top three girls for the Performer of the Year Award.

The school received a gift of £200 towards PE equipment and CPD for staff training.

The awards were presented by the Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Jack Davis, at a special award ceremony held at Dukinfield Town Hall.

These were not our first successes in these awards; in 2007, we won the award for Outstanding Success in Competitive Sport in a Primary School! [see report]
