Sport: We Like To Move It!

School Sport Partnerships across the Country have revolutionised PE and School Sport. They have greatly increased the number of participants, competitors, aspiring coaches and young leaders. There are 450 school sport partnerships covering every school in the UK.

All the children in our school love sport and enjoy a very wide range of physical activities. Their regular participation in sporting activities helps them to lead a healthier life style and provides them with the opportunity to succeed in a range of sporting disciplines. The School Sport Partnership has been a fabulous vehicle in supporting our school to deliver a fabulous range of sporting experiences to all children.

In the recent spending review the Government decided not to continue the funding for School Sport Partnerships. Following the announcement a campaign has been launched to attempt to reverse the decision. As part of this campaign schools throughout the UK participated in a simultaneous dance initiative to draw the Government's attention to the fact that children "Like to Move It". The dance took place on 19th January at 11.40 am and lasted for five minutes.

All the children and staff in our school joined in the dance and the event was a great success. The children had lots of fun and they all managed to raise their heartbeat with a smile on their faces!!!! We are hoping that the nation-wide dance will be entered into the Guinness Book of Records for the highest number of participants performing the same dance simultaneously.
