March: Tameside Cross Country Championships
The Tameside Cross Country Championships was held in early March this year and was the final race of the season. All our teams ran exceptionally well and we finished up with two team wins - the Under 9 Girls and the Under 11 Girls, with both the boys' teams coming in second place.
There were around one hundred runners in each category and quite a few of our children finished in the top ten. Tess won the Under 9 Girls race, Megan came third in the Under 11 Girls race. Four of our runners came in the Under 11 Top Ten and went on to represent Tameside at the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championships the following weekend; this included Megan, Denver, Paolo and Lewis.
We have had another very successful season winning eight out of ten team trophies that were up for grabs in Tameside. A huge well done to all the runners and a bog thank you to all the parents for their continued support and encouragement.
January: Tameside Cross Country Relay Competition
The school cross country team continued their domination at the recent Tameside Cross Country at the end of January. Four teams entered the competition - two Under 9s and two Under 11s. This year the teams were in age groups with a mix of three girls and three boys in each team.
The Under 9s 'A' Team came first with the 'B' Team very close on their heels in second. The Under 11s 'A' team also came first with the 'B' team just missing out on a third place finish.
To date our school cross country squad has won every first place trophy that has been up for grabs in Tameside - a fantastic achievement!!!
