Another Great End to our Athletics Season!!!
Our athletics team played another blinder by winning the Catholic Schools Outdoor Athletics Competition for third consecutive year - an outstanding achievement indeed!!!
The team consisted of pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6, many of which have now been attending weekly athletics training for three years; quite a number of the team also train at East Cheshire harriers twice a week. This training coupled with natural skill and a desire to win has allowed the squad to experience a high degree of success for the past three years.
Some will be moving onto secondary school in September so a huge thank you to all of these pupils and best wishes for your continued success. Many of the team will remain with us and we look forward to witnessing their future achievements.

Our school won the Tameside indoor athletics competition and as a result went through to represent Tameside at the Greater Manchester County Indoor Athletics Finals. Our pupils were competing against the top twenty four schools in Greater Manchester and the results show some excellent performances from many of our team.
Of particular note is the Girls' sprint relay which involved Abby and Butchelle - these girls ran their socks off and posted the fastest time in the competition making them the best sprinters in the whole of Greater Manchester - an awesome achievement!
Butchelle has contributed to many sporting success throughout her time at Our Lady's; she will be starting her secondary education in September at St Damian's so we wish her continued success. Abby will no doubt continue to excel with our school team as she has a couple of years left with us. She trains regularly at East Cheshire Harriers and has developed skills across many sporting disciplines. A huge well done to you both!!!

Aviva Greater Manchester Athletics Finals
Earlier in the year our athletics squad won the Tameside Borough Indoor Athletics Finals and thus qualified to represent Tameside at the Greater Manchester County Indoor Athletics Aviva Finals held at Sports City, Manchester at the end of March. There are over nine hundred primary schools in Greater Manchester and we were one of the top 23 schools who qualified through to the county final.
The team equiped themselves very well indeed with outstanding performances, especially on the track events in which they were in the top 3 or 4 on almost every event. The team finished in 7th place out of 23 and so moved up two places on the leader board from last year when we finished 9th in the county finals.
A huge well done to all the team who have trained hard throughout the past year for this event. A big thank you to Mrs Winterbottom and Mrs O'Neill who helped to manage the team. Thank you also for the continued support and encouragement of all the parents.
Any children who are interested in being involved in the athletics team please come along to the Athletics After School Club on Mondays 3.15 - 4.15 pm or see Mrs Lawrence.
