St Ann's Church
Recent years have seen several changes such as the amalgamation of St. Ann's and St. Mary's Primary Schools, the closure of St.Mary's church, and the creation of one parish at St. Ann's. Hardly surprising, then, that I have on more than one occasion had to remind parishioners that they do have a school - Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the primary school for the parish of St. Ann's.

Father Francis is always a welcome visitor to our school and we in school are happy to find new ways to work together.

The School and Parish together share the important work of the preparation of children for First Communion, First Confession and Confirmation. The Sacramental Programme is carried out by a team from the Parish, supported in school by Mrs. Brennan in her religious lessons, with Father coming into school frequently to teach the Year 3 class.

Each term our children take a leading part in the Liturgy at a Sunday Mass by reading and singing.

The school ran a stall at the parish Christmas Fair which raised 𧴰 in return we were delighted to receive a £500 donation from the St.Ann's Social Committee for our school fund.

Our children produced some well researched and beautifully presented displays for both the 150th Anniversary of St. Ann's and also the closing of St.Mary's. Children also took part in Masses for these celebrations.

Finally, Junior children walked to church during Lent to enact a thoughtful and moving Stations of the Cross. In Advent, Reception children visited the church as part of their Religious Education work.
