News: Walking Festival - Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School, Ashton under Lyne

In October 2007, Tameside's first ever Walking Festival Competition was held at Richmond Street Playing Fields, in Ashton.

All Year 4 children in Tameside were invited to take part, they had to walk briskly for a mile.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel's team came first and we won the cup, each child received a medal and a certificate. Our Year 4 children have been doing the "Golden Mile" every week. They work as a team walking in a line (one behind the other) for a mile and it has paid off well by winning the Walking Festival trophy!
