Each year, during Lent, the school raises money for the "St. Joseph Penny" collection. This goes to the Catholic Rescue Society to help children and their families in need (what ever their beliefs or faith) in the Diocese of Salford.
This year the children of Our Lady of Mount Carmel have once again beaten their previous best raising money for the "St Joseph's Penny" collection!
Years 4 and 5 organised toy and cake sales to raise money before Easter, raising just short of £200.
Year 4 children brought in toys, teddies, books, DVDs, etc to sell. They created posters and leaflets to advertise the event and took responsibility for organising and running the sale, which took place over two lunch times and after school.
Children from Year 5 baked cakes or brought in cakes to sell on their goodies stall and children from other years also donated cakes to sell. Most of their wares had an Easter theme.
There were many other initiatives throughout the school that helped to raise money for "St. Joseph's Penny" including own clothes days and colouring competitions. The children managed to raise £700 in total!
