In November 2006, our Tag Rugby team won the Tameside Sports Development Tag Rugby crown. The side edged out the children from Canon Burrows in an exciting final that went into 'golden try' extra time!
As champions of Tameside, we will represent the Borough in the Greater Manchester Mini Games next summer. It is the second time in four years that
the school has achieved this honour.
In September 2006, our Tag Rugby side, pictured below, won the GB-UTD tournament for Tameside primary schools.
Children enjoyed coaching by players from Sale Sharks and were then able to practise their skills in a 5-a-side competition.
In a memorable finale to the day long event, the victorious team emerged from the tunnel at Curzon Ashton F. C. and proceeded up the steps in the main stand to receive the trophy from the Chairman of the football club.
Children from Year 6 also took part in Athletics competitions organised by East Cheshire Harriers, and Football competitions organised by Manchester United coaching staff.
GB-UTD is a government sponsored organisation that promotes community cohesion through sport.
