Archaeologist Visit

As part of Year 4's history topic on the Romans, we invited Mr. Crossland an archaeologist from Manchester University to talk to us and bring in some Roman artefacts.

Here is Mr. Crossland talking to us about Roman pots. The grey pots were used for cooking or storing food.

We looked at a millstone it was round and very rough and it had a small hole in the middle. The millstone was used to grind wheat into flour.

We had to sort the pieces into groups of metal, bone, pot, brick and wood.

We have the remains of an amphora. This was a large jar used by the Romans for storing and transporting wine.
