In September 2010 we celebrated National European Language Day. This was an important occasion in our school calendar because it was a great opportunity to view our school as a place where people from diverse backgrounds meet, live and interact and where languages flourish.
Each class adopted a different country for the day; countries included Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Russia and more. Children practised speaking the language of their country and learnt something of their country's culture through song and dance.
They shared what they had learnt in an afternoon school assembly and then ended the day by enjoying a taste of favourite foods from their country.
Year 4 children (below) were French for the day. They had already learnt some French conversation with Mrs. Brennan.
