Retirement of Mrs Davidson
Mrs Anne Davidson is retiring after teaching for thirty eight years. During this time she has taught across all key stages with much of her time spent in the Foundation Stage. She has often been the first face that parents and children have met in our school; she has been so very warm and welcoming and a great encourager to new parents.
Mrs Davidson is a positive spirit that always sees the best in people and as such has also encouraged all the school children and staff in more ways than she will ever realise. She is a very valued member of our school staff who has led the Foundation Stage, where our results have been amongst the best, both in Tameside and nationally. Mrs Davidson has continually sought to improve her own practice and to develop others': the provision that our children enjoy in Foundation Stage today is entirely down to her vision and energy. She has also managed to continue this demanding role with that of science subject leader, where again our school has excellent results.
Mrs Davidson has remained totally committed to our school and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. She received a papal blessing from Pope Benedict XVI for all the years she has taught in Catholic education.
We wish Mrs Davidson a peaceful and happy retirement.
Retirement of Mrs O'Connor
Mrs Celia O'Connor is retiring after teaching in our school for fifteeen years. During this time Mrs O'Connor has supported teachers in the role of teaching assistant, working with children of all ages. Even now, children remember Mrs O'Connor with a great fondness and appreciate all the care, time and assistance she has given them.
Mrs O'Connor has worked in other roles within the school, running a breakfast club and supervising children at lunchtime. She will be remembered by staff for her organisational skills and her flexible and supportive working style which has run alongside her caring and fun nature.
Children have also valued the focused tutoring they have received from Mrs O'Connor. She is a very valued member of our school staff and will be greatly missed. We wish Mrs O'Connor a peaceful and happy retirement.
Retirement of Mr Dunstan
Mr Eric Dunstan is retiring after serving as caretaker in our school for over twenty years! He will be greatly missed by staff and pupils alike.
During this time Eric has turned his hand to many tasks and provided extra assistance above and beyond his regular duties. His knowledge of ICT, gardening and general subject knowledge has allowed him to assist teaching staff and pupils in many ways. His golden nuggets of information have always been welcomed - gardening and holiday tips along with historical gems.
Eric will be especially remembered for his high levels of dedication and affection which reflect his wonderful attitude to both family life and community and to the pride he took in his work. Whatever the problem, he always had a solution and the cry "Let's ask Mr. Dunstan" will echo through the school corridors for many years to come!
Many people have offered their thanks and best wishes and expressed a fond sadness at Eric's retirement. We all wish Eric and his wife, Barbara, every happiness for the future.
