Mrs Brennan Takes Early Retirement!
We were all very surprised and sad to hear that Mrs Brennan would be leaving our school after teaching here for thirty-two years. She decided to retire early when her husband who is also a teacher, retired from All Saints Catholic College Dukinfield.
Mrs Brennan's hard work and dedication to the children of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School will be sadly missed. She has excelled in her role as Religious co-ordinator where she has supported many children and their families through the sacramental programme.
Mrs Brennan has also been instrumental in leading the school successfully in achieving the Eco Green Flag, not just once but twice. Her caring and loving manner towards the children also promoted the catholic ethos of the school.
A thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at St Ann's Church, Ashton-Under-Lyne on Sunday 19th July for Mrs Brennan. She received a blessing from parish priest Father Philip Nathaniel. She was also presented with a Papal Blessing which was requested by the parish, staff and children of Our Lady's school in recognition of her long service to Catholic education.
We are lucky that Mrs Brennan will be retaining a link with our school by teaching one day a week. We wish her a very happy and peaceful retirement.

More Goodbyes
In July we sadly had to say goodbye to some of our Teacher Assistants. We were very sorry to lose Mrs Pickering who retired after working so hard in Key Stage 1 for 28 years. Both staff and children will miss her very much. We wish her a very happy retirement.
Miss Baines who has been at Our Lady's for two years as a Teacher Assistant has worked throughout the school and has been a real asset to us. She has started a PGCE course at Leeds University for a year and will soon be a qualified teacher. We wish her all the best for the future.
Mrs Corbett made a real impact at our school in the year she worked as a Teacher Assistant in Year 5 Class. She has moved to another school in Oldham and we are sure she will be valued there just as much as she was at Our Lady's. We wish her all the best in her new school.
