As part of their Geography studies, the children in Year 2 had a "French Day".

They listened to French music and ate French food, such as croissants and crêpes. To add to the atmosphere, the children dressed in the French style. Oo, la-la!

Our French Day

On Friday 5th May 2006, our lass had French day at school. We learned about France and what French people do and eat. Our French day began when we all arrived at school dressed in French clothes. Our class then shared a delicious French breakfast.

Before our special day we watched a video of Barnaby bear going to Britanny. We talked about different foods they eat in France.

It showed us that the Eiffel tower has 1625 steps to climb and will take you a long time to walk, or you can take a lift to the top. At the top you can see a fantastic view of the Notary Dame cathedral and the River Seine.

Our special day began when we ate our delicious chocolate croissants. After that we were taught a dance called 'Is French'. In the afternoon we made a colourful necklace. Next we had some scrumptious crepes before our quiz. After that we had orange juice and strawberries.

I learned that Gustavo Eiffel built the Eiffel tower and Georges Serrate decorated it. We liked tasting the different foods, especially the chocolate crepes! It was a fantastic time!

Our French Day

On Friday the 5th of May Year 2 was transformed into a French classroom, all the tables were white with red, blue and white in the middle. All the children looked fantastic dressed as French people. Quite a lot of the children had a long, thin moustache and goatee. Nearly everyone had a black beret with a small, thick point on top. We had a French day because Barnaby Bear goes to Britanny in France.

Before our French day we watched Barnaby Bear arrive in the place called Roscoff. We drew and decorated a picture of the Eiffel tower which is Frances famous landmark.

We also ate croissants and in the afternoon we ate lovely, delicious, tasty crepes. I knew everyone liked them because we devoured them all. We also drank lovely, cold, fresh orange juice.

After lunch we made Eiffel tower badges then we quietly, quickly and neatly did a fun quiz. I got 12 out of 12, some questions were hard some were easy but it was still great fun. Then we played Rounders we lost by one point, but I still enjoyed it! After Rounders we sang Aluette which is a French song.

We listened to french music, they sounded very peaceful, quiet and relaxing. I felt like I was going to sleep, the music was so peaceful. French day was wicked!!
