In November 2004, our school achieved the
Eco-School Bronze Award and in January 2005 our school received the
Eco-School Silver Award!

As a continuing part of the school's involvement with the Eco-Schools project, the school held an Eco-Week in November 2004. The children took part in a variety of events and competitions.
The special Eco assembly.

The week started with a special assembly on Monday 8th November, when promoters of the recycling department of Tameside came to talk to the children about the initiatives already begun in school and to introduce a green bin to recycle plastic bottles and bags.

The children in years five, four and three replanted the flowerbeds and tubs outside all the classrooms using plants and bulbs donated by generous parents.
- Nursery made a model island out of junk.
- Reception made Jack and the Beanstalk out of junk.
- Year 1 looked at different ways of recycling.
- Year 2 made pencil top containers out of recycled material .
- Year 3 made booklets on healthy eating and pictures of trees using magazines and jigsaw pieces.
- Year 4 worked on environmental issues to Save Our Beautiful World.
- Year 5 presented a fantastic fashion show making outfits out of recycled materials.
- Year 6 made junk models on wooden platforms, which could easily have been placed in a gallery of modern art.

Various competitions went on throughout the week-design a poster to advertise the week; a moving toy using recycled items, a junk t-shirt design, and junk models. The response for these competitions was fantastic and the standard of entries was very high.

To raise money for Eco-funds a recycle toy day was held and the children came to school in a recycled outfit, each child donating 50p.

The money raised last year was used for the benefit of the children, this bought plants and tubs, tables, benches, balls and toys to use at lunch times and breaks.

All money raised this year will go towards improving the playgrounds.
The week ended with a special assembly when year five presented a recycled fashion show and the winners of the various competitions were announced and given prizes.
