Eco-School (2003)

As part of the school's involvement with the Eco-Schools project, we had a visit from Laura Cresswell from Tameside Recycling Unit who talked to the whole school on how to recycle our waste. She brought a paper bin and a waste bin. She showed us how to REDUCE, RECYCLE AND RE-USE.

She also talked about the different types of recycling bins they have in supermarkets, car parks etc.

As a follow up year 5 went to the Tameside Resource Unit where they watched a video, and had a lesson on re-cycling which included watching a machine separate aluminium from other metals.

The school's involvement with the Eco-Schools project continued with a special sports day, which took place in July 2003.

The children enjoyed the sports day to celebrate our Eco-Project on protecting the environment. 'Phil the Bin' entertained the children by squirting water at them, as they tried to clean up the field, by collecting bean bags which represented litter.
