| Our Results |
For our Year 6 pupils in 2009, our results at the expected level (level4) in English, Maths and Science were above national averages for the average points score.

In the higher levels (level 5) our results were considerably above national averages.

Our "value added" score, which best measures the "school effect" places us in the top 10% of schools nationally for achievement.

| Our Successes |
In the school year 2008/2009 we have continued to enhance our successful reputation with more unique achievements.

We gained two prestigious awards - the ECO Green Flag international award for the second time and also top prize for improving pupils' health and well being at the Tameside Sports Awards.

We had two inspections from OFSTED and also Salford diocese judging the Catholic life of the school and Religious education. All judgements were at least good and several outstanding. In particular, the Catholic life of the school was judged as outstanding.

Our sports teams have maintained their record of success. The athletics teams, managed by Mrs Lawrence, completed a remarkable season winning nine out of the sixteen Tameside competitions open to them.

Our Cheerleading team, coached by Jenny Saville, won the Tameside event and were invited to perform at the Tameside Healthy Schools Conference.

Years 1 and 2 won the Tameside Multi-skills festival.

Year four and five won the Ashton Rugby Club tournament. Our tag rugby side came first in the Greater Manchester mini games when representing Tameside. It is the third time in four years that we have reached the finals, winning twice.

We completed the next phase of our Building Development Plan, which was the opening of a Foundation stage unit and a new block of pupil toilets costing £330,000. In addition, playgrounds were re-surfaced at a cost of £35,000. Internally corridors were re-painted (£4,000) and new floorings laid in entrance area, offices, staff room, reception class, and nursery, at a cost of £10,000. Furniture was replaced in several classrooms, costing over £15,000.

We have an excellent and active PTA which provides a good programme of family activities including free discos for the children; a Barn Dance and Halloween Family Night at St.Ann's Social Centre; and Christmas and Summer Fairs. Last year over £3,000 was raised and equipment for class rooms and play times was purchased.

I am sure you will share my immense pride at how well everyone's individual contribution comes together to enables our school to continue to achieve and improve.
