Eco School: WOW Monster Week 2009

As part of our WOW (Walk Once a Week) campaign we held a "Walk to School as a Monster" Day on Friday 9th October 2009.

Children in Nursery, Reception and Years 1, 2 and 3 came to school dressed as a Monster. Many of the children looked absolutely fabulous and must have scared their neighbours on their walk to school!!

A lot of effort had been put into their costumes so a big well done to the children and the parents too!

The best-dressed monsters won prizes. In the nursery class this included Orla, Jordan, Hannah, Freya, Ethan, Jake and Wiktoria; Reception class winners - Madison, Scarlett, Demi and Kian; Year 1 winners - Jude, Ryan and Joseph; Year 2 winners - Connor J., Connor M. and Leo; Year 3 winners - Jude, Tess, Faith and Jay.

Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 entered a Monster Energy Generator and came up with some very inventive and creative ways of producing energy without harming the environment. In fact, many ideas used the "Reduce, Recycle, Reuse" ethos that is now so firmly embedded in our way of operating.

The winning entrants were Butchelle from Year 5 with her "Recycling Robot". Connor was the Year 5 runner up. Jessica was the winner from Year 4 with her "Cleaning King". Runners up were Junaid, Josef, Gerald, Lauren and Mia.
