Year 5 children had a re-cycled clothing fashion show which told the children the right bins to use when recycling different materials.
For eco week all of Year 5 decided to do a fashion show with a little twist! All our clothes were made out of rubbish and bin bags!
First of all we created the design for our costume in our art books, we had to label what all the parts of the costume. We all had to use a theme, which had to be either reduce, reuse or recycle. Most people made there's out of bin bags and paper. I made mine out of different coloured bin bags, and my message was to reduce the amount of rubbish in our homes.
On the day of the fashion show, Mr. Woolley made a catwalk with the benches. He also played some music for us to walk out to, it was really fun and we all hope that our eco fashion show has got the message across to people that we should reduce, reuse and recycle.

For our eco week activity we put on an eco fashion show.
The first thing we did was design the costumes in our art and design sketch books. We then had to choose the most appropriate materials for our costumes, such as coloured bin bags, materials that can be composted and other rubbish and recyclable objects. After we had finished our designs we started making our costumes.
My design was called Clarity Charity. My theme was reusing carrier bags. I made a long dress out of a Cancer research sack and cut out logos from other charitable organisations.
Each child had a different theme for their costume. The three main themes were reduce, reuse and recycle. But we focused on just one aspect of this like, composting, reusing carrier bags and reusing clothes.
Everybody chose a name for their costume, which used alliteration for example, Bling Boy, Recycling Ria, Paper Princess and Rich Recycling. All the costumes looked really fab!
On the day of the fashion show we put the finishing touches to our costumes and made the necessary repaires. Before we stepped on to the catwalk, Mr Woolley described our themes and called out our name. We walked along the catwalk and did a little pose at the end and walked back.
At the end we all went on together and we got a huge round of applause. We all had really good fun creating our costumes and it was very entertaining, as well as being educational.
