Welcome to Year 6
Please be aware of the importance of this school year. Like you, we want the very best for your child in this transitional year.
Very soon your child will be applying for a High school place, as well as working towards the SATS at Key Stage 2.
Could you, therefore, ensure that your child attends school regularly; arrives on time; and completes any homework set.
PE Kit
Alternate groups will go swimming on Tuesday up to December.
On Fridays, the class will go to Medlock Sports Centre for P.E.
Please make sure that children have appropriate kit on these days.
This term:
Literacy
In Literacy our emphasis will be on fiction - all different genres, and story writing.
Numeracy
In Numeracy work, we will be revising place value, money problems, fractions and decimals.
History
Our History work is based on life in Victorian times. We will have a class visit in October to Styal Mill for a "hands on" experience of life for a Victorian child.
Science
We hope to benefit from additional help in Science, from a teacher from St. Damian's Science College coming into some of our Science work.
Homework
Homework will usually be given on Tuesdays and Fridays (reading, spellings on-going all week).
